Interests & Expertise
  • Ecosystem dynamics
  • Bycatch reduction
  • Fishing mortality
B.S. in Marine Biology and Environmental Science
Roger Williams University

Mary began working at Coonamessett Farm Foundation in October 2021. She received a B.S. in Marine Biology and Environmental Science from Roger Williams University in 2016. After graduating, she worked as a research technician at University of North Carolina’s Institute for Marine Sciences studying how oyster aquaculture gear affects habitat function and seagrass growth. In 2019, she transitioned to the Northeast Fisheries Observer Program and worked as a fisheries observer on scallop dredges and groundfish trawlers primarily in the Cape Cod region. Mary is interested in how fishing activity and gear selectivity play a role in ecosystem dynamics.
