About the event

Meet with the CFF project team and collaborators to learn more about ongoing projects and oceanographic and fishery sampling equipment currently being developed and field tested. Light appetizers and refreshments will be provided. We hope to see you there!


Experimental fishing (figure 1): Testing Japanese jigging machines to target unmanaged oceanic species (~80 species) like neon flying squid.

Predator control (figure 2): Testing alternative fishing gear to manage predators of commercially valuable species.

Example Technologies under development (in collaboration with Acbotics and Lowell Instruments):

Oceanographic sampling (figure 3): Low cost and durable sonde that is easily deployable from a fishing vessel. Connected to the Lowell Deck Box for data transfer through the eMOLT network.


Electronic fish board (figure 4): Measures length and weight, takes photo for photogrammetry, and transfer data through the Lowell Deck Box. The deck box will also display catch data based on fishermen’s preferences.
