Sandwich Beach Cleanup Removes over 550 pounds of Debris
FINAL BEACH CLEANUP
June 2, 2026
CFF's third and final spring cleanup took place at Town Neck Beach in Sandwich. Eight volunteers collected 550.65 lbs of debris on a breezy, overcast day.
The beach itself was relatively clear — most debris came from the dune and parking lot areas. The bigger find was on the marsh side of the beach: a large mass of rope, netting, and derelict trap components that required two separate trips to fully remove and filled 14 fishing baskets once sorted.
This was the last of three DMF-funded cleanups held in Wellfleet, Falmouth, and Sandwich this spring. In total, 30 volunteers removed nearly 700 lbs of marine debris, including significant amounts of abandoned fishing gear.
