Spring Tagging Continues our Study of the Impacts of the Sea Scallop Fishery on Loggerhead Sea Turtles
June 2026
June 23, 2026
This May, our team tagged nine loggerhead sea turtles aboard the F/V Kathy Ann — caught in the water, measured, fitted with satellite tags, and released.
Studying loggerheads at their foraging grounds, in the water, is rare and difficult work, and it produces some of the most valuable data we have on where these turtles travel and when. Over years of tagging, that data helps us understand how loggerheads use the same waters as the sea scallop fishery — part of CFF's broader work to keep both the ocean and the communities that depend on it healthy.
