Update on Ørsted Sunrise Wind Lease Area Survey

Our benthic ecosystem survey in the Ørsted Sunrise Wind lease area, led by PI Tasha O’Hara, completed its 2026 survey last week during ongoing construction operations. 

This project is advancing both marine research and offshore safety through expanded training, improved navigation and safety equipment, enhanced emergency preparedness, and updated field protocols for scientists and members of the fishing industry. 

This collaborative partnership between Coonamessett Farm Foundation, Ørsted, and Atlantic Shellfish, Inc. reflects a shared commitment to safer offshore operations and sustainable ocean research.
