ABOUT MONIQUE

Monique graduated from The University of New Hampshire in 2016 with a B.S. in Biomedical Science: Medical & Veterinary Science. During her undergraduate degree she studied green sea turtles in Costa Rica and Nicaragua, assisting local marine research groups with mark-recapture studies. After graduating, Monique worked as a taxonomist on the Hudson River Project for Normandeau Associates, identifying fish larvae and eggs to species, and participated in seasonal soft-shell clam surveys in Hampton, NH. After working in a laboratory setting for two years, Monique began observing for the Northeast Groundfish Observer Program and Industry Funded Scallop Program with Fathom Resources. Between at-sea deployments, she also worked on land as a dockside observer, marine mammal observer, and electronic monitor. Monique then transitioned to becoming Fathom's Lead Coordinator and Offshore Marine Safety Trainer for the observer program, working as a supervisor and instructor for three years. In the fall of 2023, she became a full-time instructor with Coonamessett Farm Foundation for the At-Sea Monitoring Program.
